in the ellstrom house love and sentimentality weren't the most prominent of things, instead the family was emotionally distant and unavailable. they found heart to heart talks to be unbearably awkward, hugs even worse, the birds and the bees talk was out of the question which left each child to figure things out on their own time. shockingly enough, the ellstrom's had their own ways of showing their loyalty to each other that mostly came in the form(s) of passive-aggression and petty squabbles that ended in muttered half-hearted apologies that only they took stock in. anyone else would have been convinced they weren't being sincere. love and adoration was given in the form of lavish gifts and vacations around the world, growing up spoiled in a world of privilege with no form of discipline was enough to fuck anyone up - surprisingly enough, the second eldest brother of the family came out relatively normal.
the twins, siri and glenn, were less than lucky in that aspect. while siri had her music and songwriting to fall back on, she and glenn had run in the same social circle which were comprised of the fellow elite of their boarding school, kids that had never been told no once, which meant they were attracted to trouble and drama like moths to a flame. summer holidays were spent in south france where they partied and forwent sleep in favor of hard drugs, hooking up with their friends and acquaintances, and drinking themselves into a stupor. if there's one thing siri resents not having growing up it would be never having been told no.
in 2007 she began taking her music more seriously after playing open mics and meeting fellow musicians while staying in stockholm where the scene was unlike anything she had experienced. she hustled and released music digitally which she hoped would catch someone's attention, which it did. while her life had been a whirlwind, siri's music had been a constant and something that she took very seriously. this was a girl who had skipped classes, forgone university in favor of what her parents considered a pipe dream. even so much so that they refused every invitation to every european date of her first tour until her first time playing glastonbury. it's still one of her fondest memories - her mother on her father's shoulders while in the crowd.
despite all of the accolades, awards, and nominations siri strived to maintain a down to earth persona. she was considered something of a flower child, a hippie, someone with their head in the clouds. that wasn't too far off from the truth but old habits formed in her teenage years died hard. she was still very much dependent on her vices and embroiled in a few personal and public scandals ranging from possession of cocaine in her native sweden and a string of failed flings and serious relationships that left her reeling.
by 2014, siri had a work ethic that left her drained emotionally, mentally and physically all in attempts to distract herself from the past several months. in an attempt to leave the toxicity behind she moved to brooklyn where she lives alone. more often than not she struggles but she tries and siri figures that's what truly counts.
